Criminal Charges Filed Against Atlantic City Woman
Rajeri Curry, 30, of Atlantic City, New Jersey was charged by federal officials on Thursday, March 14, 2019 for distributing heroin and fentanyl that resulted in the death of Jeffrey Giannini of Ventnor. Giannini, 30, was found dead in his car at a McDonald’s restaurant.
Mr. Giannini’s autopsy showed that the cause of death was the “combined adverse effects of heroin and fentanyl.” The recent charge, delivered by U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito, was for possession with intent to distribute heroin.
Caught on Surveillance Footage
Security camera surveillance footage recorded the sale of the heroin by Curry to Giannini before he died. Wax folds that contained heroin and fentanyl were also found in Giannini’s car, and these were stamped with the same stamp, which read “body count,” that Curry had on the heroin she’d been selling.
Authorities knew that the stamp was Curry’s because heroin with the same stamp had been seized in Curry’s home earlier in January. At that time, police officers had taken 300 wax folds of heroin from her home, which was in Atlantic City. She was indicted on several charges which included possession of heroin with intent to distribute in a school zone.
Detained Without Bail
Rajeri Curry, after appearing before a judge in Newark federal court, was detained without bail. Curry had also been convicted in Atlantic County on other drug distribution charges in both 2008 and 2011. However, she pled not guilty on the current charges.
