Camden County Sexual Assault Charges
A man who worked as a supervisory nurse at a Camden County youth rehab facility agreed to surrender his nursing license while awaiting resolution of sexual assault charges. The suspect, a 31-year-old Monroe NJ resident, has been accused of sexually assaulting an underage patient at the rehab center.
The suspect was initially arrested a couple of months ago after law enforcement investigated him for allegedly sexually assaulting a 17-year-old patient at a rehab facility in Camden County, NJ. According to authorities, the suspect committed the sexual offenses and had sexual contact with the young victim on multiple occasions over a period of one month. It is unclear if the suspect is accused of sexually assaulting the victim at the youth rehabilitation center.
The NJ Attorney General’s Office has filed several criminal charges against the suspect, including one count of sexual assault, four counts of criminal sexual contact, and four counts of child endangerment.
NJ Attorney General Christopher S. Porrino recently issued a statement about the case and said that the sexual assault suspect has agreed to give up, at least temporarily, his registered nurse license in New Jersey. The suspect signed a consent order, meaning that he will not be able to practice as a nurse for the time being.
Depending on the outcome of the sex crime case, the suspect could eventually get his license reinstated by the New Jersey Board of Nursing. However, if the suspect is ultimately convicted of a felony, it is very possible that he will permanently lose his license and be barred from working as a nurse in NJ.
Porrino noted that the suspect’s alleged crimes are being taken very seriously by prosecutors because “the relationship between nurses and their patients is one built on trust.” When a licensed nurse violates that trust, added Porrino, “the state must step in to make sure depraved behavior such as that alleged here does not occur again.”
